YANKEE CANDLE: CANDIED APPLE & BLACK RASPBERRY
On to the scents...
Candied Apple:
Yankee Candle describes this candle: "From the county fair...crisp red apples coated with a mix of melted sugar, orange, pear, and vanilla."
Yankee Candle has a winter scent called Sugared Apple, and I thought that these two would be similar; they actually smell different. Sugared Apple is more suited for the winter. I preferred this candle to Black Raspberry. The apple scent smells fresh and not artificial, which was my main concern. There are subtle sweet notes that mix well with the fresh apple and balance the overall fragrance. However, the sugar, orange, pear, and vanilla all mix together to create a general sweet fragrance; I would never be able to identify each component. Yankee Candle's description surprised me when it mentioned the pear and the orange. I would not say this smells exactly like a carnival candied apple (which may be a good thing...), but the idea is there. I'm glad Yankee Candle decided to focus on the crisp apple scent more than the candied scent. All in all, I liked this candle.
Black Raspberry:
Yankee Candle describes this scent: "The natural fruitiness of ripe summer raspberries...juicy sweet with a delightful tangy note."
I thought this scent was okay. It smells like a very rich berry. Someone told me that the fragrance reminded them of the smell of grape juice; I agree to an extent. It does smell very sweet, but there are also subtle, tangy notes mixed in. The candle does not have a generic berry scent, as I can identify the raspberry smell. I liked the plum color of this candle better than the bright red Candied Apple candle. I imagine this scent would really work for living or family rooms.
